Eyes of Faith® Collection Creates Successful Blend of Sales and Philanthropy with Independent Eye Care Professionals During 2015

Eyes of Faith® frame sales through independent eye care professionals provided Wear & Share® donations for thousands during 2015 optical missions.

Eyes of Faith Optical continues to grow its philanthropic outreach through strengthened relationships with independent eye care professionals. Sales of their faith-inspired,  designer ophthalmic frames and sunglasses at opticals throughout the United States supported Wear & Share-donated eye care, and new prescription glasses, sunglasses, and readers for multiple clinics at home and abroad during 2015.

“The readers, sunglasses, and ready-made prescription lens and frame system funded by Wear & Share donations make all the difference in the mission field,” said Dr. Keith Nice of Nice Eye Care, an Eyes of Faith optical partner and Vision Source practice in Burlington, North Carolina. “It is truly amazing to watch patients’ faces when they realize they are going to receive a brand new pair of glasses or sunglasses. And that is a direct result of offering Eyes of Faith in our office.”

Nice was one of about 70 volunteers who attended a Global Health Outreach mission to El Boqueron, El Salvador, in July. Scott Settegast, Director of Operations at Sight Ministries International (SMI), introduced Dr. Nice to Eyes of Faith at the annual Vision Source Exchange meeting, and the synergistic effort between these organizations, including funding from Eyes of Faith’s Wear & Share promise, allowed approximately 1,400 people in need to receive eye care and corrective or protective eyewear during five days of clinics.

“These partnerships make possible, what we call, ‘mission moments,’” said Jim Schneider, Eyes of Faith Co-Founder and President, who helped reach more than one thousand people as a volunteer on SMI’s October Kenya mission trip. “Our relationships with independent eye care professionals, optical associations, and missions organizations allow patients to purchase a meaningful product that results in the gift of sight for thousands of people.”

During 2015, sales from Eyes of Faith collections also helped to fund optical assistance with See the Lord in Sanger, California, the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists in Belize, and SMI in Kenya and Colombia. Eyes of Faith already has big plans for 2016 with Wear & Share donations slated to make a difference during SMI missions in Indonesia, Peru, Costa Rica, Brazil, and Guatemala.
